Plans & Projects
A principal aim of the Foundation is the establishment at Monash University of the Herb Feith Chair for the Study of Indonesia and its endowment in
perpetuity to honour his life and achievements. Thanks to philanthropic gifts and to commitments given by the university, the inaugural appointment was
made in January 2007. The Foundation will continue to seek external funding so as to secure the endowment of the Herb Feith Chair.
In addition to the Herb Feith Chair, the Foundation is engaged in a range of projects

Herb Feith Graduate Scholarships at the University of Gadjah Mada

Herb Feith Memorial Lecture presented by a distinguished international speakers

A biographical study of Herb Feith by Dr Jemma Purdey, ARC Postdoctoral Fellow, Centre of Southeast Asian Studies and School of Political and
Social Inquiry. The biography, From Vienna to Yogyakarta: The life of Herb Feith was published by UNSW Press in June 2011.

Supporting peace work and conflict resolution in West Papua.
And, as resources permit, we plan to

run collaborative projects with the Alola Foundation in Timor Leste

fund a Herb Feith Volunteer assignment at AVI

host visiting scholars from South-East Asia

establish a Munir Memorial Scholarship in human rights
-
enable the establishment of exchange programs between Australian and Indonesian educational institutions
-
assist with peace-building initiatives focusing on Indonesia
-
support cultural activities, workshops, seminars and conferences relevant to Indonesia
- support the publication and promotion of the journal Inside Indonesia
